27 May A Community Rebuilding-
The Shore Acres Yacht Club has a 75 year old history to Brick, NJ. It is located on the beautiful Barnegat Bay at the mouth of Kettle Creek. The residential area of Shore Acres dates back to 1895 and was referred to as “the Village” with an active port. In 1914, it became known as the Shore Acres area.
The clubhouse, known then as the villa, went from the Oakhurst Club to the now Shore Acres Yacht Club. The club fell into disrepair and the Shore Acres Homeowners Association took over. During World War II, the association went into bankrupt, the Shore Acres Point Corporation was founded and bought the land 1945. The building was bulldozed and rebuilt to what was once the Shore Acres Yacht Club.
Superstorm Sandy hit and once again a building lost.
In an effort to once again rebuild the Yacht Club, in conjunction with the Shore Acres Sailing Club, we donated a Clambake for 8 to raffle off. Thank you to all who supported the fundraising efforts. From this effort alone, $1500 was raised. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNER ~ Barbara Suharger.
